"The blush is beautiful, but it is sometimes convenient"

|
There were so many bright, beautiful days lately.  And I didn't think to take pictures during one of them.  So ignore the dark, blueish tinge to these pictures, please and thanks.  For todays post, I thought I'd review two of the blushes that I got for Christmas, and have been wearing a lot lately to test out.

Guerlain blush; similar here; Tarte Blush palette; individual shades here

Lets start with the shiny, gold one: Guerlain.  This is the first product I've tried from the brand. I was holding high hopes since I've heard NikkiTutorials rave about this duo blush.  But I felt a bit let down.  The pigmentation of the bottom colour is absolutely gorgeous.  It's matte, and slides on the skin beautifully.  But the top colour is shimmery (which I still like), but also very patchy.  I have a hard time blending it out on its own.

In order for this product to work (on my skin, at least), I find that I need to apply the bottom colour all over the cheeks, and then sheerly apply the top colour over that.  It leaves a beautiful wash of colour when applied this way, and lasts all day.  I guess I hoped for something a bit easier to use, given the price.

Next is the Tarte Christmas palette.  They come out with these every year, but this is the first year I've caved and purchased one.  It comes with 5 shades, four of which are matte, and one satin-shimmery (beaming).  The quality is pretty much dead-on to the individual blushes.  They're a bit stiff at first, but blend beautifully onto the cheeks.  They are very pigmented, especially fetching and smashing which can easily be over applied.  But I'm really happy with this palette, and I've been reaching for it all the time lately.

What blushes have you been loving lately?
