Battle of the Nudes

|
Nudes are those things that you always know you need, but you never really think to buy.  Whether it's clothes (I'm looking at you white blouse), or makeup (but the red lippie is so pretty!), it's hard to force ourselves to buy the necessities when there are so many other pretty distractions in place.  In this post, I'm sharing my two favourite nude palettes that I think everyone needs in their collection.

Naked Basics Palette or Becca Ombre Nudes:
These two palettes are so similar, you definitely don't need both in your collection.  My Urban Decay Naked Basics is about 4 years old now, and as you can see, has been pretty well loved.  Like all Urban Decay eyeshadows, the colours are very buttery and pigmented.  This palette works great on it's own, or as transitional shades with more adventurous colours.  The Becca Ombre Nudes eye palette, on the other hand, is more subtle, with less variation in colour than the Naked Basics.  I'm not sure if it's because this palette is still relative new, but the colours seem to blend together much better than the Urban decay, and the transition between them is seamless.  This contains all matte shades, unlike the Naked Basics which has one shimmery highlight.  My only complain with the Becca palette is that it doesn't have a matte black shade, which I love to use as an eyeliner.  Overall, I would say that the Becca palette is that much better, but comes with a heftier price tag.

Urban Decay Naked 1:
This is the holy grail of all eyeshadow palettes.  I don't need to belabour the obvious, but this is an amazing palette.  It contains a mixture of mattes, satins, and shimmery shades.  It has (almost) everything you need to create anything from a natural everyday look, to a night time glam look.  My complaints with this are that there are not enough matte colours.  But one of the reasons I'm talking about, and using this palette more often is because of the much anticipated release of the new Naked Smokey palette this summer.  What are your thoughts on that?  I think it's a bit too dark for my liking, and I was kind of hoping the next Naked palette was an all matte palette, with some colour selection.

Until next time,

Happy makeuping,

xoxo K
