Liebster Award

A while ago, my blogger friend Nicole Nicole from Keep Calm and Coco On nominated me for the Liebster Award.  And to be completely honest, I had to look it up.  It's based on the merit system, in a "pay it forward" kind of fashion for newbie bloggers.  While I do this completely to blow off steam, it's fun to realize people actually read my blog.  So here are my well-delayed answers!

11 fun facts about my self:
-I am almost 21 (Birthday is 2 weeks tomorrow!)
-I'm 3/4 finished my honours undergraduate degree, with a double major in Criminology and Environmental Studies
-I have natural blonde hair that I high-lighted after a failed attempted at being a brunette
-I have horrible vision, and have been wearing glasses since the 7th grade
-I played competitive fast pitch for 4 years (8 years of play in total)
-I quit in my final year due to an absolutely horrible, degrading coach
-I suffer from anxiety
-My best friend is my mom (not in a pathetic "my only friend is my mom" kind of way, more in a Lorelai/Rory style)
-I have recently lost 25 lbs over the course of a year
-I really hate to exercise (unless power walking through a mall counts)
-I day dream all the time (and have missed subway stops because of it)

11 questions from Nicole:
1. What inspired you to start blogging?
I started reading fashion blogs in the beginning of October and thought, "How hard can it be?"  Surprisingly, more time consuming that you would think.  I'm honestly horrible with technology, so trying to cut and edit pictures can sometimes be a nightmare.  But mostly I love how it can distract me from university.  I get overwhelmed really easily, so to have an outlet to share my favourite hobby (shopping, obviously) is such a treat.

2. Where is the coolest place you have traveled to?
Baddeck, Nova Scotia.  I don't travel often (the extent of my traveling in high school was seeing most of the baseball diamonds in southern Ontario), and I haven't been back to Baddeck in 10 years.  I spent 7 glorious days here, where all I did was fish, go on boat rides, eat a ton of lobster and seafood, travel to the surrounding areas to visit family, and relax.  Everything is so green and lush and Ireland-eque.  The down-east mentality is so laid back too; it's a far cry from Toronto.

3. What is your dream job?
I have absolutely no idea.  I'd always thought I'd be a lawyer, but the more pre-law courses I take, the less I enjoy it.  I've even spent some time in various court houses over the semester, and enjoyed each one a bit less than the first.  Maybe something in the environment? Maybe something in fashion? I really have no idea at this point.

4. What's your favourite thing to order at a coffee shop?
Hot chocolate! Which is weird, but I love it.  And cookies/macaroons/cupcakes/anything sweet.  If it has sugar as a main ingredient, more than likely, it will end up on my plate.

5. Who is your biggest role model?
Hmm, that's a tricky question.  As much as I would love to say someone in my own family, I can't.  I'm the first member of my family to go to university (and in a minority to even graduate high school).  I think it may be any celebrity who promotes positive ideologies, whether it is about self-esteem, work ethic, environmental sustainability, or whatever it is.  Like Leonardo DiCaprio.  He's huge into environmental rights, and you can find more about his work here.  (Also, it helps that he is still insanely gorgeous).

6. What is your biggest challenge as a blogger?
Like I said above, my limited understanding of technology, my impatience, and my horrendous spelling.  Approximately 1/4 of anything I type will be underlined in red.  I'm so thankful for spell check!

7. What is your favourite thing to do on weekends?
Sleep! And read.  I love to just stay in my pyjamas, crawl under the covers, and read a really girly chic-flick like book (my logic is I have to read hundreds of scholarly journals though out the semester, I want my at-home books to be easy, fun reads).

8. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?
London!  I love everything about London (even though I've never been), and all of my favourite books/movies (which are presumably horribly inaccurate) take place there.  Once I graduate, I'm planning on spending some time in the summer there (and if my books were to turn into reality, I would fall in love with someone and move there, all happily ever after style).

9. High heels or flats, and why?
Flats! I have weak ankles, and am perpetually running late for things.  I can run a lot easier in flats!

10. What is your favourite blog post you've written?
Probably my first environmental post.  It sparked a bit of feed back from people, and I enjoyed hearing about different perspectives on the subject.

11. What is your favourite: summer or winter olympics, and why?
Winter! #WeAreWinter #TeamCanada (enough said)

In the spirit of the award, I nominate:
Carly from Chicago Prepster
Leanne from Fresh Season
Catherine and Julie from The Preppy Sisters

My questions:
1.  If you could only shop at one place for the rest of your life, where would it be and why?
2. What is your favourite meal to cook/bake?
3. Which fictional character (book, T.V., movie, etc.) do you most relate to and why?
4. What has been your worst hair-cut/style?
5. What is your biggest societal concern (i.e. environmental, gender/racial equality, etc.)?
6. Biggest draw back of blogging?
7. Biggest reward from blogging?
8. What is your dream vacation?
9. What are you most proud of accomplishing thus far?
10. When did you really start to refine your style? Do you know what you like now, or are you still trying to find out?
11. The top goal you wish to accomplish this year?

Enjoy, and can't wait to hear your responses!

Until next time,

Happy shopping,

xoxo K
